Program Director Daniel Lerch and Post Carbon Fellow John Kaufmann are two of the most sought-after speakers on the challenges that peak oil poses to cities and local governments. Daniel is the author of Post Carbon Cities: Planning for Energy and Climate Uncertainty (2007), the first major guidebook on peak oil specifically written for local governments. Daniel is recognized as an international expert on the unique challenges peak oil poses to cities and local governments, and has given presentations to public and government audiences in the United States, Canada, the UK, Ireland and Spain. John Kaufmann, Fellow

John was the lead staffer for the groundbreaking Portland (Ore.) Peak Oil Task Force, which looked at the implications of declining oil and gas supplies for the city. John has spoken to government and public audiences across the country about peak oil and the experiences of the Portland task force. He was a featured speaker at the 2007 conference of the Association for the Study of Peak Oil - USA. (more...)
