John Kaufmann bio

John Kaufmann was the lead staffer for the groundbreaking Portland, Oregon Peak Oil Task Force (2006-2007), which looked at the implications of declining oil and gas supplies for the city.

John Kaufmann is Senior Buildings Energy Manager for the Pacific Northwest National Laboratory. Prior to that, he led energy efficiency and renewable energy efforts with the Oregon Department of Energy for 29 years, helping to make Oregon a national leader. He was one of the nation's first state-level solar energy specialists and is a recipient of the American Planning Association Professional Achievement Award. In 2006 he was lead staff for the City of Portland's groundbreaking Peak Oil Task Force.
